Mark your calendars for a special week of classes. Acclaimed instructor,THOMAS SHOEMAKER, will teach daily classes in Ballet Technique, Pointe, and Variations. Advanced and High Intermediate Dancers.
THOMAS SHOEMAKER was an acclaimed principal dancer with companies including the Atlanta Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Louisville Ballet, Augusta Ballet, and Charleston Ballet Theatre in a professional career that spanned 25 years. As a guest artist and choreographer, he has worked with numerous dance and theatre companies throughout the U.S. and abroad. He received a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance from Hollins University/American Dance Festival. Before joining the faculty of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Mr. Shoemaker taught and choreographed for the Vanderbilt University Dance Program and was Artistic Director of Vanderbilt Dance Theatre. He also served on faculty with Middle Tennessee State University Dance Program, Austin Peay State University Dance Program, Tennessee Governors School for the Arts Summer Program, and American Dance Festival.

Josh Schadl

Josh Schadl, an Atlanta native began training at an early age. At the age of 14 he began taking classes at the Atlanta Ballet under the direction of Armando Luna. Through a partnership between the Atlanta Ballet and Kennesaw State University.During his time at Kennesaw, Josh performed with the Atlanta Ballet, The Georgia Ballet, The Georgia Youth Ballet, and Ballet Mississippi and Tampa Bay Dance Theatre as well as winning two national titles at the American College Dance Festival with a performance at the Kennedy Center in May of 2012 and June of 2014. Josh, an alumnus of Kennesaw State University is a double major in Spanish and Dance. He also studied in Taipei, Taiwan at the National Taiwan University of the Arts. Josh has danced with Ballethnic Dance Company in East Point, GA where he made his debut as the Leopard in Ballethnic’s production of The Leopard Tale.

The Lilburn and Grayson Schools of Ballet are pleased to announce our 25th annual summer intensive workshop. These classes are designed for the beg/intermediate through advanced dancers.
The workshop offers daily training in ballet, pointe, partnering, modern, jazz, pilates, African, drama for dancers and more! All classes are taught by a distinguished faculty of dance professionals. Guest instructors include Melissa Anderson (Milwaukee Ballet), Marcus Bugler (Nevada Ballet), , Ralph Jacques (Atlanta Ballet), Josh Schadle (Covington Regional Ballet), Beau Foister (The Georgia Ballet), Dr. Theresa Howard (Ballethnic & Kennesaw State University), Amy Morrow (Parkview Drama), Audra Mitchelland many more still to be announced. Dancers will experience new choreography and dance styles in the late afternoon rehearsals. The program culminates in an exciting on stage performance at the end of the workshop.
MELISSA ANDERSON
Melissa Anderson, a native of Milwaukee, has performed in Soloist and Principal Roles with companies as diverse as the Milwaukee Ballet, Ballet Teatro Municipal de San Juan, Southern Ballet Theatre (now the Orlando ballet), Michigan Opera Theater and the Icelandic National Ballet. Currently she enjoys dancing with Danceworks Performance Company, a Contemporary dance ensemble located in Milwaukee, WI. Melissa teaches ballet at the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and several other locations. Melissa enjoys teaching and choreographing at dance conventions such as Chicago National Association of Dance Masters CNADM, Dance Masters of Wisconsin DMW, Southern Dance Masters, Atlanta’s Ballet Fest and SPARK, Texas Association Teachers of Dance TATD and the National Association for Dance and Affiliated Arts NADAA. Ms. Anderson has been featured in Dance Magazine’s Dancer Online Chat, and in Dance Teacher Magazine. She is certified by the ABT National Teachers Certification.
MARCUS BUGLER
Having a dance knowledge covering a wide range of techniques, MARCUS BUGLER teaches master classes, gives workshops, adjudicates and choreographs in dance schools, camps and conventions across the country; notably University of Nevada Las Vegas, Lindenwood University, and Utica College as guest faculty. He has been a guest instructor at the Chatauqua Summer Arts Festival, Marin Ballet, Ballet School of Stamford, Steps, Broadway Dance Center, Eastern Virginia School of Performing Arts, Ballet Tennessee, Miss Linda’s School of Dance, Sawnee Ballet School, Festival Dance Camp at UGA, Exclusively Ballet, Balletfest, Dancentre South, South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory, Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theatre, West Coast Dance Explosion, Dance Educators of America and the Academy and professional company of Nevada Ballet Theatre. Marcus has been a dancer with the Muny Opera in St. Louis; the Harkness Youth Dancers (performing at the White House), The Harkness Ballet, with whom he toured all over Europe, Joffrey II, the Eglevsky Ballet, and the New York Metropolitan Opera where he was a dancer, Dance Captain, Ballet Rehearsal Assistant, and finally Repetiteur in 2001. In 2003 he joined the artistic management team of Cirque du Soleil, opening the production of Zumanity: the other side of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. Before joining Cirque, he was invited, in 2003 and again in 2008, to Japan to choreograph the dances for the Ongaku-Juku production of the opera Die Fledermaus, and in 2007 for the Saito-Kinen Matsumoto production of Queen of Spades; all conducted by the brilliant Seiji Ozawa. He was also brought in as a guest artist of the Chicago Lyric Opera twice; first as Assistant Choreographer to re-stage the dances in the opera The Great Gatsby, and in 2006, as Choreographer for Robert Carsen’s production of the opera Orfeo. Marcus teaches privately and internationally and is on staff as dance instructor for the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre as well as guest teacher for the dancers of the Cirque production of Viva Elvis. His recent performances on stage include Stepsister and Herr Drosselmeyer in Peter Anastos’ ballets Cinderella and The Nutcracker for NBT, and the Widow Simone and Dr. Coppelius in The Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre’s presentations of La Fille Mal Gardée and Coppelía.Houston Repertory Ballet

Just when the summertime blahs hit, ballet saves the day! Don’t let your child miss out on the most comprehensive summer program yet! We will be offering classes in ballet, tap intro, and modern for students ages 3-5. The performance workshop will also offer professional instruction in drama, dress up, stage crafts, and many other fun activities. We will study a famous ballet, and the recreate the story through dance and mime. Students will be taught to express temselves through movement. All dancers will perform for parents at the conclusion of the workshop.
Our new expanded facility features state of the art studios for your budding ballerina!
This is a great opportunity for your child to really advance in their dance training and to have fun. Students receive over 8 hours of instruction in just two weeks. This is equivalent to two months worth of training for many young dancers. What an exciting, quality activity for your young children.
6-9 Year Olds

We will be offering classes in ballet, jazz, and modern for students ages 6-9. The performance workshop will also be offering professional instruction in ballet history, nutrition, variations, drama, and stage crafts. We will study the famous ballet “Cinderella” and then recreate the story through dance and mime. Children will be taught to express themselves through movement.
This is a great opportunity for your child to really advance in her dance training. Students receive up to 35 hours of instruction! Students who attend the June workshop will have an in-studio demonstration at the end of the week. Those dancers attending the July workshop will have the opportunity to perform in a mini-performance onstage with the company dancers at the conclusion of the workshop. This is equivalent to 4 months worth of training for many young dancers. Most important, your child will have fun while learning a beautiful art form.
